Lightbox Targets Creative Professionals
5 September 2002. Conceiva (http://www.conceiva.com),
a leading developer of software and services for creative
professionals, has launched Lightbox.
Lightbox marks the new generation of asset management
and browsing tools targeted at creative consumers
and creative professionals.
Traditionally, creative professionals use standalone
image browsers or file browsers to locate the image
files on their computer. Building a web site, designing
a brochure, or just organizing digital media files
can result in 1000’s of files in multiple folders
on a computer. The task of locating particular files
and importing them into creative software applications
such as Adobe PhotoShop, Adobe Illustrator, Macromedia
Dreamweaver, Macromedia Flash and Microsoft FrontPage,
is often a time consuming and frustrating task.
Lightbox overcomes these problems with a revolutionary
new technique for file browsing. Rather than being
a standalone image browser, Lightbox is a fully featured
digital media file browser that attaches itself to
creative software applications. A single click provides
access to the digital media files on a computer without
leaving the creative software application.
Lightbox displays more information about files than
any other competitor standalone image or file browser,
making file selection much more precise. A new innovation
included is its ability to create animated thumbnails.
Rather than create static, single page thumbnails
for digital media files, Lightbox creates multi-page
thumbnails for digital media files that contain more
than one frame – for example, animated GIF files,
AVI files, multi-page TIFF files, and more. This gives
creative professionals the ability to see more of
the file than ever before – not just the first
frame.
“Lightbox provides a significant productivity
edge over its competitors,” stated Paul Schumann,
CEO of Conceiva. “It has been purpose-built
for creative professionals to provide fast access
to digital media files. I am confident that it will
increase productivity for all users of creative software
applications.”
Key features of Lightbox include:
- Support for over 150 file formats used by today’s
creative professionals, including over 60 image
file formats (PSD, JPG, TIFF, EPS, BMP, GIF, PNG,
etc.), web file formats (HTML, ASP, CSS, etc.),
video file formats (AVI, MPEG, WMV, etc.), audio
file formats (WAV, MP3, RMI, etc.) and document
file formats (MS Word, MS PowerPoint, RTF, PDF,
etc.).
- Auto generation of thumbnail for supported files.
- View thumbnails in multiple, user defined sizes.
- Animated thumbnails enable better viewing of
multi-page images (e.g. TIF), animated images (e.g.
animated GIF) and streaming media files (e.g. AVI).
- Attach Lightbox to your preferred creative software
application to provide fast, one-click access to
files.
- Drag and drop files into attached software applications.
- Fast navigation between folders using Favorites,
History, full mouse support and keyboard support.
- Fully compatible with all creative professional
tools, such as Adobe PhotoShop, Adobe Illustrator,
Macromedia DreamWeaver, Macromedia Flash, Macromedia
Director, Microsoft FrontPage, Adobe InDesign, Corel
Draw and more.
Lightbox runs on Windows XP Professional, Windows
XP Home, Windows 2000, Windows Me, Windows 98SE.
